Amber Bohnett-Smith, MA LLPC
Therapist
I am a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor working under the supervision of April Pocalujka, Ph.D-ABD, MA, LPC, CAADC, QIDP. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University, then completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Central Michigan University. I have long been interested in human behaviors, connections, relationships, emotions, and learning as much about these things as I can. I will continue putting these skills to use by being a catalyst and partner for growth and change for individuals, groups, couples, and families. In addition to my professional counseling background, I will actively be working toward marriage and family therapy (MFT) credentialing to continue broadening my skillset even further. I am a huge fan of lifelong learning and truly enjoy bringing new skills to help clients work through their concerns.

My hobbies include spending time with my husband and our six furry babies (four dogs and two cats), spending time with family, traveling, trying new foods in new places, cooking, listening to music, attending concerts, singing, reading, gaming, and keeping up with exciting new developments in the fields of science, technology, space, and medicine.
My Approach
I like to use a variety of methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Strengths Based Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Family Systems Therapy. I have experience helping clients who have experienced various or complex forms of trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, social phobia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, autism, attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder, and family or relationship concerns. I have also worked with many ex-offenders, veterans, correctional staff, medical professionals, active military and military families, LGBTQIA+ clients, and happily provide gender-affirming services for those who need them; I provide therapy services to children and adults.
