Rowshon Jahan, MA, LLMFT, CFLE-P

Therapist

My name is Rowshon [pronounced Row-Shawn]. I graduated from Adler University in Chicago, earned my master’s degree in Couples and Family Therapy, and completed a certification in sex therapy. Before moving to Chicago for grad school, I went to Michigan State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies. Currently, I am a Limited Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT) in Michigan, working under the supervision of Sarah Harrier, MS, LMFT, CCTP.

Moving away for grad school in the middle of a pandemic was a whirlwind that fundamentally changed how I see the world. It gave me a much deeper appreciation for the hurdles people navigate in their daily lives. When I’m off the clock, I love to slow down and rejuvenate, usually spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, taking road trips across Michigan, or doing mobility stretches at the gym.

My Approach

The way I do therapy is by getting to know you and understanding how you live your life. I like to address the systemic issues that impact us and how we show up, but sometimes that’s difficult when we struggle to communicate effectively with those in our lives and don’t have the tools or skills to do so. Therapy is a place where we can practice enhancing these skills and dive deeper into why we are the way we are. I draw on a mix of theories in therapy, including CBT, Collaborative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and a dash of Feminist Theory and Attachment Theory to spice things up.

I love to explore, process, and advocate for your growth in and out of therapy. I value respecting and supporting each other’s differences to become the ideal version of ourselves. That will include challenging thought processes, understanding you and your lived experience, and listening to how the world has shaped you.

I have experience working with neurodivergent folx, partners navigating relational issues, and humans exploring their identities. I work with kids who struggle to express themselves in a world that is not built for them. I work with couples, individuals, and siblings, and have experience conducting group therapy. I enjoy doing therapy with people from all walks of life. I have learned a lot from my clients and am dedicated to continuing to learn both in and out of the therapy room.

I am looking forward to supporting you on your therapy journey!
